The Virginia Trucking Association and the Safety & Human Resources Council will be hosting educational meetings in east and west locations. The topic for the February meetings will be:

The Joys of Civil Litigation, or What to Expect After an Accident in the Court Room—A Mock Trial.”

As a Safety Director, you’ve done everything to keep your safety program compliant and within the regulations. One of your drivers unfortunately gets into a wreck. The other party is looking for a big payday and has “lawyered up”. Are you ready for a court case? Do you know what to expect, what to do?

During this presentation, the attorneys at Setliff Law will walk you through what to expect when you are in the court room. They will walk through the claim and conduct a mock examination of a claimant and a cross examination of a Driver and Safety Director.

Whether you are a seasoned Safety Director or Human Resource professional, or just learning the ropes, this presentation will prepare you for what to expect when you need to represent your safety program in court.

The west meeting will be held at Weyers Cave Community Center on February 11th and the east meeting will be held at Atlantic Bulk Carrier in Providence Forge on February 18th.    The program will start at 10:00 a.m. with lunch to follow and a question and answer session to adjourn at approximately 12:30 pm.

The registration fee for each meeting is $25 per person for VTA members and $99 per person for non VTA members , which includes a box lunch and refreshments.  Please register online at www.vatrucking.org.
